PLACEHOLDER Shovel used to shovel coal for the Chicago & Northwestern Railroad. Used by Fred Miller, who worked as a fireman for the C & NW for about one year around 1919. Shovel has an iron scoop (some rust and dirt) and a light brown wooden handle: "F. Miller" carved into handle. Short handled shovels such as this one were not used in later years, longer handled shovels were used. Chicago and Northwestern Railroad. C & NW Railroad.

Note with item: "Wagon Neck Yoke, The outside the rings are fastened or snapped to the collar of a horses harness standing on either side of a wagon pole or tongue. The center ring is looped over the end of pole or wagon tongue to hold it up and also to keep it guiding the wagon."
